Why pets and their people love this pose

When I ask my clients if they’d like to be in the photos - the response is usually somewhere along the lines of “no way” - but once I share some very simple and easy posing options, they usually feel more confident. There is one pose that always ends up being a keeper from the session. Your dog sitting or standing between your legs. The only thing you need to consider are your socks and shoes (which I will have mentioned to you during our planning session.

This pose is exactly what it sounds like: your dog sits or stands between your legs while you stand naturally behind them. It’s easy, relaxed, and puts the focus right where it belongs - on the bond between pets and their people.

What makes this pose so popular is how genuine it feels. There’s no pressure to smile at the camera or strike a dramatic pose - your connection with your dog does all the work. The result is a portrait that feels natural, personal, and often becomes the most loved image from the entire session.
